When running a grep on a long document in InDesign on a Mac with Big sur, the grep doesnt run. But it works on a Windows machine with Same version of InDesign.

Give more details... How many characters in a single story? Which GREP code are you using?

59, 965 words

317,837 characters.

Indesign Version = Latest 2021

java Script using = Grep_Change_case

So in find\change\grep you place the grep statement below. Then the script uses whats in find\change\grep(in this case) and changes anything found by the grep statement from upper case to lowercase or lower case to upper case depending on which option you use in the script.

Works Great on windows With indesign 2021 same version as on the mac. On the mac it doesnt work at all.

Grep is:

(?<![\.\s|\!\s|\?\s]) Adder|Amaranth|Anlger|Ant|Ape|Apple|Archer|Ash|Ass|Asses|Astronomer|Bat|Bear|Beast|Beasts|Beaver|Bee|Beehives|Bees|Beggar|Bird|Birds|Blackberry|Blackbird|Blind Man|Boar|Body|Bowman|Boy|Bramble|Brass|Brazen Pot|Bride|Brother|Bull|Bullock|Bulls|Butterfly|Calf|Camel|Carpenter|Carver|Carver’s|Cask|Cat|Chameleon|Chicken|Child|City Mouse|Clown|Coachmen|Cocoon|Collier|Colt|Comet|Cormorant|Country Mouse|Countryman|Court|Covetous Man|Cow|Crab|Crane|Cranes|Crocodile|Crow|Crows|Cub|Cuckoo|Cur|Diamond|Doctor|Doe|Dog|Dogs|Dolphin|Dove|Driver|Drone|Ducks|Eagle|Ear of Corn|Earthen|Earthenware|Elephant|Envious Man|Fairies|Falcon|Falconer|Farmer|Fawn|Fellow|Fellow-traveler|File|Fir Tree|Fisherman|Fishes|Flea|Fly|Flying-Fish|Forest|Forester|Fortune-teller|Fowl|Fowler|Fowler|Fox|Foxes|Friends|Frog|Frogs|Fuller|Gamecocks|Gardener|Gardener’s Dog|Geese|Glow-worm|Gnat|Goat|Goatherd|Gold|Goose|Gourd|Grasshopper|Groom|Grumbler|Gudgeon|Hands|Hare|Hares|Hart|Hawk|Head|Hedgehog|Hedge-Sparrow|Hen|Hens|Herdsman|Hermit|Hog|Hornet|Horse|Horses|Hound|Hounds|Hunter|Huntsmen|Idol|Jackal|Jackals|Jackdaw|Jackdaws|Judge|Keeper|Kid|Kite|Knight|Lamb|Lame Man|Lark|Lawyer|Legs|Leopard|Lion|Lionness|Little Boy|Little Dog|Little Ones|Lizard|Lobster|Log|Lynx|Magpie|Maids|Mallard|Man|Manger|Mask|Master|Mastiff|Mayfly|Merchant|Mice|Milk|Milkmaid|Miller|Miser|Mite|Mockingbird|Mole|Monarch|Monkey|Mother|Mountain|Mouse|Mouth|Mule|Mussel|Nettle|New Milk|Nightingale|North Wind|Nurse|Oak|Oculist|Old Dog|Old Fellow|Old Hound|Old Man|Old Mouse|Old Woman|Ostrich|Overseer|Owl|Ox|Oyster|Pail|Parrot|Partridge|Partridges|Passenger|Peach|Peacock|Peacocks|Peasant|Pelican|Philosopher|Pig|Pigeons|Pike|Pilot|Pine|Pitcher|Plane|Poor Man|Porcupine|Potter|Puppies|Puppy|Rabbit|Ram|Rat|Raven|Reeds|River|Rivers|Robber|Rose|Rosebush|Salmon|Satyr|Scholar|School|Schoolmaster|Scythe|Sea|Sea Fishes|Servants|Shadow|Sheep|She-goat|Shell|Shepherd|Ship|Silkworm|Sire|Sister|Slave|Sloth|Snail|Snake|Snakes|Soldier|Son|Sons|Sorceress|Sorrowful|Sow|Spaniel|Sparrow|Spider|Sportsman|Spring|Stag|Statue|Stone|Stork|Sun|Swallow|Swan|Tail|Tame Geese|Thief|Thieves|Thresher|Thrush|Tiger|Toad|Tongues|Tortoise|Trap|Traveler|Trees|Trooper|Trumpeter|Turkey|Vases|Viper|Vulture|Wagoner|Wallets|Wasp|Weasel|Well|Whale|Wheel|Wheels|Whelps|Widow|Wild Geese|Willow|Wizard|Wolf|Wolves|Woman|Woodcock|Woodcutter|Wrestler|Young Fellows|Young Man|Young Mouse|Young Ones|Young Trout|Fish|Coachman|Man(?=[\.\p|~'|\!|\?|\s|,|\;|\'])

InDesign from a few version have had a few bugs with stories over 50k characters. Adobe fix some, and introduce some others.

Just to make sure it’s related to that 50k number. Try it with less than 50k stories.
Does it was working before on Mac? Does it failed after the latest update 16.1.0.20?  Does it was working before macOS BigSure?

I’ll give this regex a try on both mac and win and report back.
