Group alert message

Working in Indesign in CS5 I resently getting this error message

"Group Alert

a group cannot include both locked and unlocked objects"

when I try to group objects that are on on the background that is locked. All objects are on the same layer.

How can I get the grouping command to ignore the locked items.?

What operating system are you running. CS5 is not supported under any modern Mac or Windows operating system.

You are in very unsupported territory. You can try running it under Windows 7 compatibility mode but beyond you are completely on your own.
