Group text and objects for the same color

Hi there,

This is something very simple to deal on illustrator. I group texts and different kind of objects and can decide on their fill or stroke to be the same.

But I'm struggling on inDesign and after a few researches I didn't find the answer.

I know that I can press "j" and directly change the fill color for the font, but that's what I'm not looking for.

I want everything to be grouped and then I click in a new fill color and I have text and objects on the same color, is that possible, with a simple one click?

I need to change colors quite often for different proposes so it would be great. Have a look on what happens.

Is anything I'm missing to have on the inDesign configurations? Can I set text to always be out of the "frame". I think I hate framed texts

Here is the file:

Then I want to change everything from the group to red, but then, boom:

There is simple logic, you're try to add color to the all fills in your selection. Text frame have it his own fill and stroke. And when you fill it with red all fills you're receive it red fills to the text frames ("order online" and "scan and download").

You're need to use other logic to work in InDesign:

    - set paragraph style with some swatch (or character style if you use it this color not to all paragraph) to your text

    - set object style with applied stroke to the frames with this "some swatch" in objects where do you use only this stroke

    - set new object style to the frames where you applied fill with this "some swatch"

And than you will be a wizard: you can change the color in your "some swatch" that you apply equally to the styles and all your objects will changed with this new color applied to your swatch.

Nice trick with the Swatch mate! Thanks!!

Although the only problem that I have now it's to find the color without a CMYK code.

Is there a way to have the illustrator "color picker" instead of just the CMYK in there?

    Or any other color wheel?

There is no such feature in this dialog.

I do this by this way (if wanna do new swatch), or remember it CMYK digits and add them to the existing swatch -

Perhaps Illustrator is the better tool to do this with.

InDesign is meant primarily for layout, not really for 'design' or 'drawing'.
