Guides to produces a book with InDesign

Are there any good guides online or in print to formatting a book with InDesign?  I have 300 pages of scanned editable text and a few grayscale photos from my wife's book, Iron-Jawed Angels by Linda G. Ford for which she has obtained the copyright and wants to issue a reprint.  I have produced a book using PageMaker back in the day, but am new to InDesign.

Any suggestions in getting started would be greatly appreciated.

Books I found useful when starting out

InDesign Bible (get the latest edition whatever it is, doesn't matter if it's older than the software, a lot of good resources and the application hasn't changed that much).

Here's a few more

  • Adobe InDesign Masterclass — more project oriented, useful for taking things beyond basics.
  • Real World Print Production With Adobe Creative Cloud — excellent for the print side (prepress, colour, export, resolution etc).
  • Designing the Adobe InDesign Way — more about layout recipes, little tricks, creative ideas.
  • Adobe InDesign CC Classroom in a Book — a classic CC edition, good if your version is close.
  • Adobe InDesign: Creative Class for Beginners — for someone starting with InDesign.
  • InDesign in Easy Steps — simple, visual, well paced.

If you like videos, LinkedIn Learning has multiple videos on using InDesign for books. I believe they have a 30-day trail for new accounts.

Thanks for the list.  I think I will get one of the Bible books and start from there.  I have used those before for other programs with good results.  Also, the older books probably deal more with book publishing than with advertising and creating documents that can receive signatures.

Thanks again.  I marked your post as the correct answer and in doing so lost my original reply to you.  I guess that it is good to be reminded now and again that to Abode I am just a Community Beginner.
