Help: File is stuck in cloud and cannot be opened or downloaded

The file is 789MB big, and saved to cloud only. Just yesterday, when I try to open the file from Indesign the program just crashes and closes, no error message. When opened from the CC program the same issue occurs.. Tried downloading the file to my computer but the file has no data in it, and shows the "cannot open file, no permission or already open" message - After downgrading Indesign back to the 2025 version (I just recently updated but was able to open the file once) it says that the file cannot be converted to older version since it can't be converted tto InDesign Markup Language (IDML)

My computer does have a tiny storage, is that an issue? I usually have like >1GB of space left if I leave a few applications open.

That file is huge and tells me that you perhaps embedded all of your graphics instead of linking them. Regardless of the application, you should never allow a computer's free space to drop that low.

Hi @47051712,

Thanks for the update, and I'm sorry you’re dealing with this crash. To help narrow things down, could you please confirm which version of InDesign you're running right now, along with your macOS or Windows version? Also, let me know if this is only happening with this specific cloud file or if other files show the same behavior.

In the meantime, please try opening your cloud documents from this link:
https://adobe.ly/3Mm8CC2

If the file appears there but still won't open, right-click it and choose Share. Set the link to "Only invited people can access" and send it to me here. I'll request access on my side, and once you approve it, I'll check the document and get the team involved for recovery if needed.

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek

I always ran on 20.5.0, and recently updated to 21.0.2. - but it is now back to 20.5.1.

However, the link still turns into https://www.adobe.com/home/errors/5XX.html and shows the undefined message again...

My current Windows version is 24H2 of Windows 11 Home, OS build 26100.7171. The file is here:

https://www.adobe.com/files/id/urn:aaid:sc:EU:df8c9162-c37c-4e57-80a0-bcb68532c672?view=difile

It seems that all other cloud files crash Indesign, but those do show error messages after crash.

The  https://assets.adobe.com/cloud-documents  webpage doesn't work for me, and only shows undefined and gives this link: https://www.adobe.com/home/errors/5XX.html

I've also already ran CC Cleaner and the Log Collector.
