Help with Online Publishing and publishing a new doc rather than updating. Need to get to original!

Hello. Help!

have a publication i published online. I VALUE the link from this publication as I've shared it and dont want to change it.

however, I made a mistake when updating it this last week; and inadvertantly Published a new document, and didnt "update existing" document.  ugh

what is my best recourse to get all of the updates to the original file that i've shared the link to.  Perhaps delete the second file? and try updating again?  it doesnt look like i can chose which file to update.  i know this sounds scattered; i truly appreciate your thoughts
