Question

Ho do I remove that stupid circle with a T in the center that is ai generated that describes the photo when using InDesign. It is very annoying and gets in the way of my design projects. Is there anyway to remove that altogether?

Recently I’ve noticed in InDesign this blue circle with a “T” is on all of my photos. Is there a way to shut this off so I don’t have to look at the description of my photos?  I don’t need this when creating projects.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi @barbaraf97259306,

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear that the blue Alt Text indicators are getting in the way of your work.

As the expert mentioned, these icons are associated with the AI-generated Alt Text feature in InDesign.

If you simply want to hide the blue “T” indicators without removing the Alt Text, please go to View > Extras > Hide Alt Text Badge.

Additionally, if you don't want InDesign to automatically generate Alt Text for newly placed images, go to Preferences > Generative AI and uncheck Auto-generate Alt Text when placing images.

Please note that disabling automatic generation won't remove Alt Text already assigned to existing images, but hiding the badge should remove the visual indicators from your workspace.

You can find more information in this helpx documentation:

    https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/desktop/add-graphics-and-media/add-edit-graphics/generate-alt-text-for-images.html

Please give this a try and let us know if it helps.

    Thanks,
    Abhishek

Yes you can do that using the “Hide Alt Text Badge” menu item accessed via View>Extras

Go to Preferences > AI (at the very bottom) and turn it off. It’s the alt text for images.
