Hot key combinations stop working randomly during the day.

We have had a lot of reports of this happening over the years because other applications interfere with InDesign's modifier keys. These are usually but not always anti-virus and anti-malware apps, but we've also had reports of browser extensions causing a conflict. Webroot is the most-cited culprit, to the point where they add instructions to fix this on their website.

I'm going to make an educated guess that this is what's going on for you because when you restart your system, the program that's interfering with shortcuts is also shutting down. Now that you know that can happen, pay attention to what program you're opening just before the problem re-emerges. I'm about to step into class, but if it ends up being a Webroot issue, I can come back and give you the link at my next break.

I’m really sorry to hear about the frustration this issue is causing, and I understand how disruptive it can be to your workflow.

Could you please let me know which version of InDesign you're using and the details of your operating system? Is this issue happening with specific files or with all InDesign files? Also, is the problem intermittent throughout the day or persistent once it starts?

It would be helpful if you could share an example of the hotkeys that stop working and since when you started experiencing this issue. Were the hotkeys working fine before?
