How can I remove the Override shortcut? (CMD + SHIFT + CLICK) I want to change this shortcut and can't find it

Unfortunately, the Override shortcut for detaching individual Parent Page objects on a document page is hardcoded into the program—it cannot be changed. You can change the shortcut for the “Override all Parent Page Items” for a selected (through the Pages Panel) document page in the Panel Menu section of the Keyboard shortcuts window. This window can be accessed under the Edit Menu. Make the change with no documents open and then quit the program. When you relaunch it will become the new shortcut globally for the program.

Hi @alexb10815036 , You can’t change the key command, but you can prevent parent page item overrides.

Go to the parent page containing the item, select the page item, and from the Pages panel fly out menu, choose Parent Pages, and toggle off Allow Parent Item Overrides on Selection—just remember you’ve made the change if you want to override in the future.

This kind of shortcut (which is not a typical “keyboard shortcut” in its user-level understanding) is usually not available for re-definition. It’s more complex than standard shortcuts that involve an alphanumeric key. For example, the Cmd-Shift-click event can also be employed when resizing an image (or another object) etc. It’s more complex, under the hood, to intercept this kind of event and identify the scope of action it’s involved in.

I don't think you can change this kind if shortcuts (although I'm away from my Mac so can't check right now). Can you say why you'd like to change it?

I keep accidentally unlocking objects on master pages when using CMD + SHIFT for other shortcuts. Hoping there’s a way to edit or remove that shortcut, whether Mac of PC.

Years ago, I had a Windows laptop with what I felt was an overly sensitive & poorly-positioned touchpad. I frequently accidentally unlocked master-page objects when I thought I was not touching the touchpad at all - I think it was registering a touch when the heel of my palm brushed over it. I solved the problem with an AutoHotkey script that intercepted any control-shift-click I performed when the InDesign window was active, and rejected any click I didn’t hold for half a second. This did a fine job of preventing accidental unlocking, and I could still e.g. control-shift-click to select an object below another object, if I was patient.

I haven’t been a Mac user in a few years, but from a quick look-over it seems like Hammerspoon could very likely do the same trick.
