How can I use legacy Type 1 fonts in Indesign CC under Windows 10?

I have a published book that I created with InDesign 2 (before there was CC), under Windows 7. The main font for the text was ITC Cheltenham BT and I also used other legacy Type 1 fonts for ornaments and headers. However, either InDesign doesn't recognize them at all OR they don't track the same as they did when I created the book, so everything flows differently and nothing is as it was. I created frames for chapter titles using a Type 1 font and they don't line up properly now. I want to correct some errors in the book and make other minor changes to the text, but can't open the file without everything getting messed up.

I also tried to create labels for my Christmas cards in InDesign using a Monotype Type 1 font for the angel image, and the font just wasn't "seen" as installed, although I could see it and select it just fine in Microsoft Word 2016. (These same fonts were not accessible in Photoshop or Illustrator, either.) I used to manage all Type 1 fonts with Adobe Type Manager Deluxe under earlier versions of Windows. Is there a way to make use of legacy Type 1 fonts under Windows 10 for any of the Creative Cloud apps, especially InDesign?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hm…
For InDesign I see a chance.
Not so much for Illustrator or PhotoShop…

With InDesign you could try to store a Type 1 font in the Fonts folder of the InDesign application folder.

Or you could create a folder named Document fonts in the same folder where the document is and try to copy the font files over there.

At least that would work on a Mac OS X system.
Hope it will work on Windows 10 as well.

Uwe

Thanks, Laubender! I tried it and it worked! The fonts do have to be installed under Windows AND be copied to the InDesign Fonts folder under Programs\Adobe\Indesign\Fonts (this is how it is in Windows 10, 64-bit version). I tried this with four different faces, 7 total weights and it worked with all of them. I am SO relieved that I can still use lots of my old favorites.

Thanks Laubender! This actually helped me resolve an issue I've been seeing with one of my end users who wasn't able to find one of our purchased fonts no matter what we tried, but adding to the InDesign application fonts folder seems to have fixed the issue.
