How do I create an "animated PDF"?

A client sent a link to what looks like a flip book/powerpoint hybrid but as near as I can tell, it's something that can be done from InDesign.
It's just a static PDF when downloaded but does anyone have any suggested tutorials or keywords that I can search for to learn more about doing this?

You need (I think) at least InDesign CC2015 upwards - you can learn how to create them with the LinkedinLearning online video tutorials - there’s a good one by Diane Burns (you can get 30-days free access).

As Bob states, it’s an InDesign’s Publish Online document, which is not a PDF, but HTML. These documents are hosted on Adobe servers. They are easy to produce from your printed version of your InDesign document and you can add short videos and multistate buttons etc to them, unlike PDFs you can also add animations.

Thank you, Derek, that is helpful...do you have any suggestion on where to find tutorials on how to do this or at least what keywords/search parameters may yield the best results as I try to learn how to do this?

Here's a video tutorial I produced a while back about the InDesign interactive features: http://www.jeffwitchel.net/2014/11/interactive-fixed-layout-epubs/

    That is Publish Online.

I'm sorry Bob, I don't know what that means. I literally have never seen this done before from an original InDesign file. Any links or information on how to create or do this is what I'm looking for.

Google it. There are literally books written about it.

It does require a subscription to Creative Cloud.
