How do I permanently add a color swatch in InDesign?

Question

How do I permanently add a color swatch in InDesign? I'd like to add my companys colors to InDesign so the swatches are they everytime I fire up a new doc instead of delteing swatches and loading in the right colors every time.

The Home screen is really a workspace, and you can click on Window > Workspace to change to any workspace, like Advanced, or one you made and named and saved. Now you can see your common panels.

Hi @jay6!!:

The traditional option is to add the colors as system defaults. This means that you close all open documents In InDesign, open the Swatches panel, and then add the swatches. From that point forward, they will be available in any new documents. This does not go back and change existing documents.

A newer option is to create a Creative Cloud library with your corporate colors. You can put the colors in the library either as individual swatches or as swatch groups or both. Once in a Creative Cloud library, the swatches are available to all InDesign documents, but also to all Photoshop documents and Illustrator documents, and any other CC apps that support the libraries, and this includes mobile apps. You can share a library with other people that they can either use or use and edit, depending on the permissions that you establish. (As a sidenote, Creative Cloud libraries are a great way to manage all of your asset, not just colors. They can contain swatches, swatch groups, images, line art, paragraph styles, character styles, and more.)
