Question

How do you add parameters to a hyperlink in inDesign to be able to track it?

I’m creating an interactive pdf (catalog) so posible clients can check our products, adding a link to each product’s page. Is there a way to add a parameter to the link so it can show that the traffic comes from the pdf?

(sorry, I don’t have much idea about that, and I was wondering if inDesign has a function for it. Any help is appreciated!)

You could ask your website department to setup redirects for the codes - but that could be a lot of redirects and setup.

Instead, you can use an online tracking service that will count the times the code was scanned.

I’m not saying to use this - it’s just an example

If the link goes to a website with a database, the database could keep track of the source OR you could have the URL directed to a particular web page and keep track of the number of unique visits. You want to investigate (or ask the webmaster) about URL parameters.

How are you planning on tracking these clicks?
