How do you alternate page templates for a book using a single page layout?

Hi,

Books have left and right pages. However, the publisher wants me to layout the book using a single page format. How do I set up indesign templates so they alternate templates automatically?

Thanks Lee.

I just did an export to pages vs spreads. You can't really do an alternating single-page layout. The request did not make sense to me. I think the publisher was just referring to the output.

You can use the parent page as one single page, add a page each time you need one. It is a little weird for a publisher/printer to ask for a layout like this. But I guess you never know.

I do because it is printed front and back. I have been doing this magazine for over 20 years.

That's a very strange request… Maybe you misunderstood and that he asked for a single page PDF, but you are absolutely free to work in a facing pages InDesign document, of course.

Yeah, that's a strange request for me too. I emailed the publisher and told them I would output a pdf to single pages, not spreads. Much of the time, the simple solution is the best solution.
