Question

How does one remove a text frame from an object

So let's assume I accidentaly clicked on an object while using the Type Tool (i did, the object was a blue rectangle).

Now the object is not just an object anymore, it is also a text frame.

For some reason, the happy accident text frame uses a font that is giving issues (fonts are weird, they tend to give issues sometimes).

Now I navigate to Object > Text Frame Options but in the pop-up menu there is no "remove text frame from object" option

Now I can just recreate the object and delete the one with the text frame unwantingly attached to it but that seems like a work-around for a problem that should be solved by undoing the creation of the text frame but I cannot figure out how to do this.

Is there a way to accomplish deleting the text frame?

Hi PimVibe,

there is an InDesign preference you can change to prevent things like that:

Preferences > Type > Type Options >

[  ] Type Tool Converts Frames to Text Frames

The other thing you can do to convert the empty text frame back is:

Select the text frame, go to main menu

Object > Content

Option Text is currently checked.

Choose Graphic or Unassigned.
