I've set the right and left indents to .3", then tried setting first line indent. Negative number, smaller number, larger number, none make a  difference. I'm using the latest version of ID CC on a mac with High Sierra.

Are you trying to create a hanging indent in a bulleted list or numbered list? Which are you creating? Are both lines in the same paragraph (no paragraph return in between the two lines)? Can you provide a screen capture of your situation (you can use the Insert Image button in the forum editor to include the picture).

I am putting a Psalm in regular document format for a book. The Psalm was copied online. It will have a typical format for poetry with every second line indented. Some stanzas have a third and some have a fourth. These just continue to be indented in stair step. I was trying to select a section and apply the paragraph style. This is what did not work. I see now if I just click on each line it works. It retained it's original formatting, every line is a new paragraph. This made it easy to do. I'm including a screen shot in case anyone wants to see what I am talking about. Thanks for answering, Steve.

I'm glad you figured it out.
