How to Apply a Stroke Around Each Column of Text in InDesign

When the text is controlled by a paragraph style, the style can be setup to have all sorts of combinations of strokes applied to it automatically. That way, if the text flows long across many pages or columns, the paragraph style provides the edge strokes. In your paragraph style, look for Paragraph Border, the 7th section down in Paragraph Style Options dialog box.

1. First, ensure your text is placed inside a text frame. If it’s not already in a frame, you can create one by selecting the text and choosing 'Object > Text Frame Options'.

2. Select the text frame with the Selection Tool.
- Go to the 'Properties' panel or 'Window > Stroke' to access stroke settings.
- Adjust the stroke weight, color, and style to suit your needs.

3. Then Apply Stroke to Columns:
- If you want the stroke to appear around each column individually, you’ll need to create separate text frames for each column.
- You can also use column guides to manually draw a stroke around each column using the `Line Tool` from the `Tools` panel. Draw lines where the column borders are and adjust them as needed.

4. To ensure the stroke appears correctly, you may need to tweak the alignment and offset settings in the Stroke panel.
