How to Bring Part of an Image in Front of Text in InDesign

Question

Is there a way to take the ridge of the mountain right behind "Q4 Summit Challenge" and bring that ridge in front so that part of "Q4 Summit Challenge" is covered by the ridge of the mountain? I want to make it look like the WAVE magazine cover

In Photoshop (or another image editing application) make the mountains into a separate layer in the image then save as a layered TIF or PSD. You can then use Object Layer Options to show or hide layers. You will end up with three objects in InDesign: The original image, the text, the layer with just the mountain.

You could also add the text in Photoshop using a mask of the mountains to hide some of the text. This would require editing the text in Photoshop.

Hi @Carter38099905mp5g , You can draw a polygon shape with the pen tool, then paste the text frame into the polygon to mask the text—Edit>Paste Into.

But I would do it Photoshop where you have the tools to feather the type mask usig a grayscale Layer Mask
