i have indesign file of a book which is printed  in pantones only. all links are raster files in grayscale (when you open link in photoshop you can see its black & white)

In indesign they are colored automatically in 4 diferent pantones but few links are still just black and i have to colored them in the same pantones. How do i do that??

every page has 4 layres, every color is a separate grayscale link (u can see on the pictire yellow fon for example and how it looks in links list )

    Hi designera79966717 ,

they are not colored "automatically", I think. Each of the placed images was selected and a swatch was applied from the Swatches panel. I guess, that for items colored with [Black] additionally the fill is set to "overprint" in the Attributes panel. You usually do not want that with other colors than [Black].

If you want to recolor an image, just select the image inside its container frame and assign a new color.

Also check if "overprint" is applied. If so do not set "overprint" to colors that are not [Black]. Also check "Overprint Preview" with "Separation Preview" to see if the colors are applied the right way.

That is interesting … Check how these color images are constructed. I think there is only one way to do this (in InDesign (*)): by creating separate images for each colored part in Photoshop.

If that is the case, then you have to decompose your new images in a similar way in Photoshop first, and save each "channel" of color as a new grayscale image.

(*) This may be far too late to change at this point, but I am sure you could have created the proper spot color channels in Photoshop as well. If there aren't any new insights on this, it would involve exporting your Photoshop file as a now-dreaded EPS, which I would normally strongly advise not to, but for raster images this should not be any different than a PDF.
