Question

How to convert superscript numbers (of a character style) of a book to footnotes and link them

Hi,

I have imported Pagemaker file with no styles in it to Indesign.  It has a lot of footnote numbers and references to it but it doesn't link since it needs to be converted to be ideal for ePub and for Print.

I need to convert the reference numbers (1, 2, 3... in a separate character style now) in the body text to link to the reference numbers (1, 2, 3...) with Endnotes texts/bible references (at the end of the book which has a separate character style for the numbers and paragraph style for the texts followed by it) which needs to be linked and to be nested below each page like footnotes for the corresponding footnote numbers on each page or like a center-column reference in a Bible (between 2 columns).

Can someone kindly help! Thank you.

Basically something like this:

First step - rough "sorting" by contents, so reference in text and reference in the Endnotes is done - thanks to the main functionality of my tool.

Now, I would need to take a look at your document and add few extra steps - mainly filtering unnecessary things and leaving only references in the main text and corresponding Endnotes.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for taking time to review and respond back.

I will share the file privately for you to review and see how your tool - ID-Tasker can fix it.

Any chance you could share your file - on priv? Part of it would be sufficient - few paragrahs of the text from both main text and notes / references ?

In return, I can process this file for you - it would be a nice playground for my tool.

Unfortunately, your only solution is a custom script...
