Question

How to create a Running Header that is based on a number bulleted paragraph style

I have set up a larger book and would now like to create automatic numbering to go on each page.

I want the numbering to be based on a paragraph style that is numbered using numbers bullets.

I have tried to do this by creating a text variable using the running header paragraph style option, but it doesn't work. I can't use the running header character style option because there is no character style applied to the numbering, it is just automatic numbering done through number bullets.

Please advise how I can do this?

Thank you!

I think you would've to convert automatic numbering to text.

Is there any way to do this automatically?

Or does it have to be done manually by removing the bullets and putting in numbers manually?

Can't check it right now, but after you select block of text, there should be an option in the context menu to convert to text.

Or do you need to do it in the whole document?

But you would've to do it on a discard-able copy as there is no going back - at least not automatically - and I'm not talking about Undo.
