How to create tabs to align text?

I have a series of lines of text, each comprising a heading and some other text. I have set a left-indent tab to space the other text away from the heading and that's OK as far as it goes. However the other text continues onto another line and appears under the heading. How do I arrange the tab so that the other text is all aligned under the left-indent tab?

I have looked at many tutorials but none of them seem to cover this point - perhaps it isn't possible?

Does it make a difference that I'm doing this in a para style?

Advice welcome.

You need a hanging indent

so you set your tab to be 4 mm

Then your Indent to 4mm

Then set the First Line indent to be -4mm

(or whatever distance you want)
