Question

How to delete a plug in from InDesign

I no longer use the Monotype program. How do I delete the plug in from InDesign?

Thanks. It seems a bit unfair to sign up for the Monotype app, pay for it, and immediately delete it. I guess I’ll just live with the annoying message.

Why did you not do what i suggested. Install it again and then uninstall the modules properly as suggested by their documentation.

I would have to subscribe to Monotype and immediately cancel the subscription, which hardly seems fair.

Not sure if I included this screen shot.

At this point I would suggest do not fight the system and waste time on it. Install the monotype app again then uninstall the plugin and other modules as instructed in their docs and then uninstall the app as well. As I mentioned in the first post there can be many modules working in a complex system and uninstalling just one may cause troubles.

I am on a MAC. Thanks for that link, but I do not see “Settings” anywhere; it is presumably in the Monotype program, which I deleted after cancelling my suscription. Ttis apparently did not delete the plug in.

Is this a 3rd party plugin? If so then check if they have provided any uninstaller for their plugin. Generally plugin files are places inside the “Plug-Ins” folder present inside the InDesign installation directory, removing the file removes the plugin. However, check the uninstaller first because there could be other elements to the installation other than the plugin

The plugins folder is empty. Yet when I open InDesign I get a message saying the plugin is not plugged in. I removed the Monotype program entirely some time ago. Where is the installation directory?

Are you on a mac or window? Share some screenshots. Why are you not using the prescribed way to uninstall given at https://support.monotype.com/en/articles/9268204-plugins-in-monotype-desktop-app-v7-x-x
