How to draw a straight line with the Line tool

Am I going crazy? Any idea why I can't draw a straight line by dragging the line tool while holding shift down? I'm using the Indesign 2017.1 (12.1.0.56). Thanks.

      The Shift is the correct key to draw a straight line. Sometimes other applications interfere with the modifier keys in the Adobe applications. (Chrome extensions come up all the time.) You might try rebooting your computer and only open InDesign to see if that is the issue.

        Yes, I ran into other problems attempting some very basic tasks so I did a full reboot and that sorted it. Thanks.
