How to Enforce Required Fields in an Interactive PDF

Hi there,

I am creating a fillable form/interactive PDF in InDesign and was wondering if there was a way to enforce the required fields in the PDF so that before they email the form it shows an error that they have not completed the required field.

From research I can find there used to be an "On Exit" feature in InDesign that could have been a solution, but this is now gone. Is there any other way to properly enforce the required field?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Even an...It cannot be done answer would be appreciated as well

If the user is filling in the form in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, the user will be prompted to enter required fields. If they are viewing the form in a browser window or third party PDF reader, there may or may not be a prompt. If you have your users use Acrobat or Reader, as you should, there is no problem.

Other problems with forms are also highly likely with browser PDF readers and 3rd party PDF readers.

Ahhh perfect! I was testing the file, but it was not within the PDF readers that you mentioned, that will be why it is not working for me. Thank you so much!
