How-to Export Comments from InDesign Share for Review

Lately, I’ve been working on the ‘share to review’ concept within my design team. One of the questions that came to mind was whether it’s possible to export the  comments posted in the indesign file in some way.

Is there anyone here who knows a bit more about this?

    Hi Eefke,

Best Method: Send a PDF from InDesign to comment using Acrobat Pro

Need to keep a paper trail of who called for what change and when? Use the Acrobat Pro feature called Create Comment Summary to save a record of comments for your internal Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and version tracking.

The current and best way to perform editorial markup on the text within a developing InDesign publication is to export a PDF, and share/email it to the writers and editors. The editors mark up text changes using the correct commenting tools in Acrobat Pro and then send the PDF back to the InDesign user. InDesign’s PDF Comments panel then selects the PDF to present its comments.

This is currently the best way for one main reason: When an Auto-Edit comment is accepted from within the PDF Comments panel of InDesign, it updates the text in the InDesign document layout automatically. This speeds up the process of making many textual changes.

Adobe have said in the past that they want to build feature parity into Share for Review, but those advanced features have not emerged yet, leaving Share for Review suitable for only the lightest use.
