How to Export Data from InDesign Pages for Use in Excel or Other Programs

Does anyone know if there is a way to export data from InDesign pages to use in Excel or anywhere else? I have a catalog and need to create an index from the pages including items from different text boxes and the pages they appear on. At least a way to extract data from these pages?

If you work on a PC - or have access to a PC - my ID-Tasker tool will do this easily - but isn't free.

You can export by layers, range of pages, language, specific location on the page, etc. - you can sort and filter any way you want.

Why not create a index or possible a TOC-type list in InDesign? You can then copy/paste it into Word, clean up with some find/replace, and bring into Excel.

Impossible to know because you've provided no examples of what kinds of data and where they are stored with in the document.

Please provide screen captures along with explanatory labels to provide us more information to go on.

From what they said it is possible. There is data in textboxes on pages. That is something that can be found and pulled out. We just cannot give any specifics without more information.

The easiest would be to create a csv file from the data. You would need to get all of the text boxes for the document, find the ones with the info that you need and its page, and then write that info/page into a csv file.
