How to export reduced size PDF from InDesign?

So I have a file for a museum display that is set up in pages 8' high and totaling 18' long. This exceeds the maximum width that InDesign will export to PDF in a single file. We are making proofreading copies using a KIP 850 printer, which is 36" wide foll fed. So, Is there a way to export my InDesign file to a PDF spread that fits this printer in a single step? My work-around has been to export multiple pdf's, piece them together in photoshop, reduce the image size, then save again as a pdf. Total waste of time. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

 

Feature request: give the export dialogue from InDesign to Acrobat a resize box that includes dimensions and resolution.

Solution A
Create your document at small scale like 1:10,
export your PDF WITHOUT resampling of images and
blow it up in your printers RIP. 

Solution B
Export a PDF/X4,
place it in a new document with your printers roll width and
export/print that.

No need for Photoshop anywhere in between...
