How to get past the opening page for InDesign 2023

Pretty embarrassing, but I've just downloaded InDesign 2023 and I cannot get past the screen shown below. I've tried clicking and touching the screen (I have a touch screen), hitting the escape button, etc. I've even opened up an existing file. Sometime clicking results in a blue rectangular box popping up (see second screenshot). I'm at my wits end here. I've never had this problem with any other version of InDesign. Thanks for your help!

Another discussion here found via Google helped me solve the problem. Again, the links you provided did not help. I renamed a text file with the "indd" extension and although I got an error message it opened up another workspace that I was then able to click on. This is a bug in the program. It seems to be a problem for folks with new laptops installing ID 2023 for the first time. I think it's important to acknowledge when there is a problem with a program.

I appreciate the information, but I can't even get to the menu. I literally cannot get past this screen. I can see options around the screen (see screenshots) but nothing happens when I click on them. At one point I was able to bring up another workspace, but it did the same thing.
