so I have an indesign document that I recieved and there appears to be a white background of the logo when if you look at it by itself it does have a transparent background. How can I make it so it is transparent in indesign aswell.

If svg: drop it in illustrator, save as illustrator file. select the background ( might need to ungroup or use direct selection tool), delete, save, and place that file back in the layout.

If .tiff. drop it in photoshop and you can use the magic wand tool to select the white, use the sharpen edge options to get nice edges. save as photoshop file. place back in the layout.
