How to Hide or Close a Video After Playing in InDesign with Publish Online

Hi, everyone! I have placed a video in my Indesign document. Then I selected the video and made it to Object State so that I can play it when clicking a button. My question is how do I hide the video after I have played it? I want to close it so that I can see the home page of my design, but it doesn't work. Note: I export it with Publish Online.

Have the video animate in with a button that also has the video play and hide that button and display a new one. That button can be set to stop the video and have it animate it out as well as to reveal the other button.

Sounds way more complicated than it is.

When you're selecting an object for the empty state in Publish Online, you can choose any object based on your preferences. This could be your background or you can use an empty rectangle. Both options are fine, and it depends on how you want to present your document or project. If you prefer a simple look, an empty rectangle might be better, while selecting the background will give your content a specific backdrop.

  • Create an empty state in the Object States panel to represent the hidden video.
  • Set up a button that, when clicked, switches to this empty state.
  • Use the "Go to State" action on the button to hide the video and return to the home page.

Thank you for you answer. What object do I choose for the empty state? Can it be my background for example or do I have to use an empty rectangle? It's just my first time using Publish Online and I am kind of lost. 🙂
