I understand what they're there for, but Its really distracting when Im trying to layout a page. I know I can hide them when I hide my guides - but I need my guides to work with. Thank you.

You can hide frame edges (View > Extras menu) if you just want to hide the icon.

The icon indicates that alternative text has been automatically added to the photo. If you don’t want that feature, turn off the Generative AI preferences.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for replying so quickly. Hiding frame edges worked.

I tried turning off the AI generative selections bu that didn't seem to do anything. I restarted etc, no difference.

Im on iMac Pro Sequoia,15.7.4, Indesign 2026 if that helps.

But you gave me a solution so I can live with frames hidden. Thanks again!

Turning off the preference won’t affect the existing images, just new imports. You will have to remove that alt text from the Object > Object Export Options menu/dialog box.
