How to Hide Text Frame Selection While Adjusting Color in InDesign?

Please someone help me. This is literally killing me, especially as I went to edit the name of this question, and it deleted all of the text I’d already written :(

So, I want to change the colour of some text. I select the text frame, goto colour and adjust the sliders. Thing is that there’s a lurid green box with lots of little white boxes attached, showing that the text frame is selected, that puts me off choosing the colour I want.

All I want to do is turn off this selection highlight, so I can choose my colours in peace.

ID is all about layout and colour choice is going to play a large part in this, so it must be possible, but for the life of me (which ID is slowly bleeding out of me) I can’t figure out how to do this.

Please, before it’s too late, someone help me … I’m begging. No literally, I am begging. It’s all too much :(

Hi @sk_23734 , Another option to consider is using Swatches named for the object(s). Here I can change the texts’ colors via a Swatch with out selecting the text:

I’m not sure if the OP wants to do that. I’ve mentioned Swatches (and paragraph or character styles) about three or four times already. Perhaps the OP didn’t understand what I was suggesting, but they never followed up with a question.

The OP has been given several ways to handle this and blew them all off.

    Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the delay, I wasn't able to get back to my computer.

So, I’ve included a screen grab. The frame here is red of course. I want to be able to change the colour of the text using sliders that update in real time, so that as I move the sliders, the colour of the text changes without there being a box around the text because that hampers my ability to clearly appraise the new colours.

I selecting the text frame, then go to the colour window, and change the sliders. However, the text frame is still highlighted. I imagine that it’s a normal occurrence to want to change text and be able to see the results in real time, and that it is also considered normal to be able to do so with the frame not being outlined / highlighted … because why not?

How would I see the colour changes in real time without being distracted by the frame?
    Thanks!

Thing is that there’s a lurid green box with lots of little white boxes attached, showing that the text frame is selected, that puts me off choosing the colour I want.

As noted, screen shots eliminate the guessing. That said, I’ll play.

I’m guessing your layer color is set to a lurid green, which is also the color of the bounding box defining the frame boundaries.

You can change the layer color in Window > Layers. The white boxes are used to resize the frame.

If you use paragraph and character styles, you won’t have to select the text to change the color (after first applying the style).

Otherwise, please show some screen captures.

With the frame selected, press the j key on your keyboard. That should set the swatches and color panels to adjust the text color only. Other than that, you’ll need to provide screenshots and full system specs.
