How to Include a Publish Online QR Code/Link Inside the Same Printed InDesign Magazine

I produce monthly magazines and at the end of every month I send my files to the printer and when the magazines come back printed I package the files and go to publish online I then copy and paste the link that throws up up and create a link to that  URL on my website behind an image of the cover of each magazine, job done.

I have been working on a separate project of a magazine for a charity carnival and have been trying to get the magazine printed with the publish online link already in it but I'm finding that very difficult because if I create a link and a QR code to the published magazine I then have to try and add that link to the printed page before it gets printed sounds odd  but I've been going dizzy trying to solve this one. All I want to achieve is have the magazine printed with the link to Adobe Portal Publish online.  Anybody got any solutions?

Before final file goes to print, create a publish online document that will be a “coming soon” file. Use the URL of this publish online file and create QR code of URL. Place QR into layout before sending to print.

When document is finalized, use publish online, and update “coming soon” file with live document.

I’m not sure what the problem is. Once you create the link you can add the QR code to the file and you’re done. So, can you tell us exactly what the issue is with getting the link to work?

The issue is  sequencing in that to create the link I request publish online and then copy the link to generate the URL link and the QR Code but that link is to the online version that does not yet not yet contain that link or QR Code - normally I do all this after my printer has printed and then when I publish online it is the final printed version that get a link to. I made a rod for my own back by using the online link to sent the organizer proofing copies of his Carnival Program in stages as the final version evolved - at each proofing I published onlinme and sent him a link, That led to him wanting to have the link and QR code printed for all the readers to use. I have tried a lot to get this to work but have settled for setting up a link to a PDF on a Googledrive and not using the Adobe online platform which is is a shame because it works well when I roll up a printed version and then I can paste the link directly on to my website so visitors can click on the image of any one of my magazines and go the Adobe flip book DPS vew of the magazine and download it if they wish. Hope all that clarifies what I am looking for help with?

Unfortunately, no, it doesn’t. Once you create the Publish Online link, it doesn’t change and you can keep updating it, so I still don’t see why you can’t create the link, then add the QR Code to the document.

But I will tell you that you’re doing the right thing by creating and linking to the PDF yourself. You have far more control.
