Question

How to keep children matched to parent?

When I try to "test" if a page is parented by adjusting one or two boxes on the parent, my pages seem to reflect the changes. But I keep running into an issue where I made multiple layout edits to my parent including margins and content frames, and now the frames on the children are no longer matching the frames on the parent. Is there a way to reestablish this link or maintain in from the outset so that I don't have to manually readjust my children to match the new parent?

Thanks

Hi @Charlie329572228uvx , You can select a page item and from the Pages flyout menu use Master Pages>Remove Selected Overrides.

Also, when you override a parent Page item its X,Y position, and other attributes, will respond to the parent as long as you don’t change those attributes on the overridden item.

So, here I have two text frames aligned to my margins:

If I override the text frames on a page, add text, move the top item, and change the fill on the bottom item:

Go back to the Parent, change the X,Y and fill color of both:

The top item on the page doesn’t move because after the override, I changed its position. Its fill color does change because I never changed the fill after the override, so the fill color is still linked to the parent, but the position isn’t:

I can clear its override, but that removes the content:

So theoretically if I only input text into a text frame and set a content frame image link when I work with my pages, they will reflect all changes from the parent immediately?
