Question

How to manually recover InDesign temp file?

I was working on a file, hit Ctrl+S to save and InDesign immediately crashed.  It did not save the document, and it was last saved 2 hours ago.  I've located files in the InDesign Recovery folder with a time stamp one minute before it crashed.  Every forum on recovery says that InDesign will automatically run document recovery when I relaunch it... but it didn't.  Is there a way to manually run document recovery?  The files exist, but InDesign never gave me the option to run a recovery.

I'm using InDesign 12.0.0.81.

Thanks.

If it didn’t recover it, it’s toast.

In the future you should consider working in a dropbox or onedrive folder which keeps versions for you.

And you should also update InDesign. You are running the initial, unpatched version of CC2017.

I have a very similar problem, although I simply did not save a file, then forgot about it and closed entire indesign without saving, However while it was opened my profile has been backed up so entire system on C drive is backed up,

not I have recovery folder from the time of backing up but how to open those files? or are the temp files of newly created (unsaved ) files somewhere else?

Thanks

That file is gone.
