My table of contents is on a recto page and I want to move it to the verso. I have tried various things but it keeps returning to the recto whenever I update it. Ideas?

Choose the page for the TOC

Select the Text tool (T) on the left and draw out a Text frame on that page

Generate the TOC

To move to another page:

Select the 'black' (solid) arrow on top of the tools on the left

Clivk on the text frame with the TOC, hold the mouse button down and drag to the desired page

Update the TOC if you want after that.

Some well meant advice: if you do not know how to move a Text frame, then you are missing some fundamental basics in working with InDesign and you really should invest in some training...

Thanks for the help. I was able to move the frames and then I needed to go into Edit --> Story Editor to remove the blank pages.

Some well meant advice... telling someone who is admittedly a beginner to invest in training without offering suggestions on where isn't especially helpful and slightly insulting.

That aside, I really do appreciate the quick service and detailed instructions on how to resolve my issue.

Thanks and have a great day!

I did give you practical steps first, before advising to get some training 😉 Read my earlier post. But it was by no means an insult, just indeed well meant advice; that said, if you need help finding a way to learn InDesign: there are books (look at Amazon) and video's (use Google), you have online courses (find them with Google and try LinkedIn Learning) or search in your area for training institutes.

Make sure you actually create a new frame for the TOC  rather than threading it into the main text.

Lets get this clear first: the TOC generates in a Text frame; did you move the text frame to the other page and are you saying that when updating the text frame returns to the first original page?

Just move the Text frame for/with the TOC to where you want it on a page and then updating should work, but you ate saying it doesn't?

I'm still learning my way around. I guess I don't know how to move text frames.
