How to Open Cloud Files

I understand that Adobe is moving away from the synced files saved locally on your computer and would like us to put our files in their cloud.  All good, except, how do you open a cloud file from within an Adobe desktop application?  For example, if I am using InDesign and want to open another InDesign project saved to the cloud, how do I do it from within InDesign?  The File Open command only goes to my desktop.

Thank you for the help!

You can add Dropbox (and folders within your dropbox account) to your sidebar so that they appear in your File > Open and File > Save dialog boxes.

Hi @dfarro , InDesign does not currently have a cloud only format. The CC sync service apparently will end in Feb 2024. It's hard to imagine a use for a cloud only ID format when there is no mobile version of InDesign. I think the best option is going to be a different sync service like Dropbox.

Thank you. But even with DropBox, you would need to go to dropbox,
download the file, then open it in InDesign, right? Or is there an easier
way to do this?

All the best,

download the file

Dropbox syncing works the same as Adobe's cloud syncing where the local version of the files in sync folder automatically sync to the cloud-- there's no need to download. InDesign assets have to be local.
