Question

How to quickly adjust spacing for multiple paragraph breaks in InDesign?

I have a text frame in Adobe InDesign with around 100 lines, each separated by a hard return (Enter). The font size is 12 px and I want the line height (leading) to also be 12 px.

Manually adjusting each line is too slow. Is there a faster way to narrow the spacing for all lines at once, ideally without editing each paragraph individually?

  1. Enter is not a return, return is a return.
  2. Work with paragraph styles in the correct language, as the language is responsible for dictionaries and hyphenation.
  3. If it is a new line in the same paragraph use a hard return (shift return). It works only with left aligned paragraphs.
  4. Don't make manual line breaks, let the program do it.
  5. Never use any empty line between oaragraphs, use space before and after in the paragraph style.
