Hi,

I still try to reduce the size of an IND file. i have alreday used the tip of "saving as" and worked with the way to generate a PDF.

I tghink now to get further ; I nedd to go back to the "roots" of the imported file of the IND file.

So whats the best way to do it ?

- solution 1 : working on each file with Photoshop to reduce the size

- solution 2 : the way of importing the iages within the IND file

I have tried the solution 1 without any amazing changers. for example, I reduce the size of several images by 50% but it doesn't chnage the size of the global ING file at the end .. so I don't undestand.

Thank you for your help.

Any images you place in InDesign are linked externally. The only thing in the actual INDD file is a pointer to that file and a preview image. It doesn't really matter what you do to it in Photoshop.

You don't say how large these files are but there's a limit to how small they're going to be and beyond a file > save as from time to time, there's little else you can do.

The size of the IND file is about 17,9 Mo

The imges size varie of some ko to 12 Mo

So no matter how big is my image file ? If there a pointer to the image file ?

I thought the images was loaded in the IND file in someway.

There is nothing large about those files. You are worrying about nothing.
