HI all,

I'm trying to create something like the attached image for a work event. I have a good photo placed already but do you any of you have tips for re-sizing logos and adding fonts? I have a logo already I want to use but it comes out so large and when I try and re-size it smaller it cuts off.

Any help would be appreciated!

And if you know the desired value for width or height in advance you could use the percentage input fields to resize the object with a value like 30pt or 40mm …

Here a step-by-step explanation.

1. Select the graphic frame that is holding the image.
Open the Transform Panel you can find under Window > Object & Layout

In my example the actual width of the selected frame is 100.787 mm.
( German UI where "B" means "W" for "Width" )

2. Type the desired width as e.g. 40mm into the percentage input field for width:

3. Press Return to do the transformation.
Note 1: The Chain symbol is activated so that the scaling is done proportionally.

Result:

The width of the selected frame is now the desired one: 40 mm
The image was scaled together with its graphic frame.

Note 2: Depending on the settings in your General Preferences under Scaling where you can set e.g. "Adjust Scaling Percentage" you'll see a scaling value other than 100 %.

Uwe

tips for re-sizing logos and adding fonts?

To resize a logo or photo, use the Selection tool (the black arrow) and click to select the object. Hold the Control and Shift (on a Mac Cmd & Shift) to resize the frame and the contents at the same time. Release the mouse before releasing the keys.

You can add fonts via Typekit, which is included in your CC subscription. In InDesign, choose Type > Add Fonts from Typekit. Here you can search for fonts by name, or use the Classification, Recommendation or Properties filters to help you narrow down the choices. When you find one you want, click the Sync button. (Note that some fonts are included in your subscription, and others are available for purchase.)
