Question

How to resolve MSVCR80.dll dependency?

I am trying to load a debug version plugin in InDesign CS3.

During InDesign launch the application says:
"This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

And the application fails to load the plugin. In configure plugins dialog it says:
"LoadLibrary failed The specified module could not be found"

I am using some third party libraries which are statically linked to the plugin.

The MSVCR80.dll is not present at InDesign application path.

How can I resolve this dll dependency?

Thanks for the reply!

I am using VS 2005 and the steps mentioned above did not worked for me.

The same plugin gets loaded for Release version of InDesign, and even on the machine which does not have VS 2005.

Can any one provide me some more solutions to resolve the issue?

Hi AnupamKushwaha !

First search for "deploying" or "This application has failed to start..." in InDesign forum,
there are some posts that really helped me to find a solution

If you are using VS 2005 Express Edition

1. Try to install vcredist_x86.exe on the computer that you want the plug in to run,
I had the same problem and installing that really helped.
You can dounload vcredist_x86.exe from Microsoft

2. Another solution see the Ted post " Answer Re: Running a very simple Win32 app on a comp without VC++ 2005 Express"
from msdn formum. This really helped me.

If you are using VS 2005

1.Try uninstalling SP1 from your control panel then compile again thanks to Jim Birkenseer
search the forum or see the link

2.Try disableing the manifest. You can see information for this thanks to Norio Kawamura
search the forum or see the link

This is so far what I know.

Try everything at your own risk.

Nice coding.

Hi Anupam,

Install the runtime package. Microsoft has an installer available for it.
