how to save underline options

Hi, I have to underline a lot of words in my indesign text and I tried to save my underline options but I don't know how.

I have gone in underline options, I changed them, but when I want to underline an other word, the options that I have entered do not appear and it comes back as regular options.

Sorry for my english, I am a french indesign's user.

Create a new Character Style that has the underline options you want. Then you can apply that style.

thank you very much, but I have done it (and I don't know how ! this is the real problem) in former text without applying any character style.

In this former text, if I go to unlerline options, it's saved as 0,7 pt / 2 pt like I wanted, but in my new text when I go to underline options and I change it, it's just changing for the word I am underlining to but it's not saved.
