How to set up a book with divider pages and external tabs

I'm setting up a book with special divider pages (carstock instead of standard paper, protruding tabs). How do I set up those special pages? Do I submit them in a separate document?\

Would be easier for you to do them in a separate file.

Communication with the printer before finishing the files is important. The printer will know what he needs in his process. There are different ways but only one which is perfect for the printer.

@cari_4055 There is an old rule and best practice that always applies in a situation like this: Talk to your printer. A quick five minutes talking to the print provider will gain you two things, both valuable: 1) You will know exactly how to set up your files for that provider, eliminating uncertainty and possibly expensive redos. 2) You will make a new friend who will be a great resource. Designers talk to printers ahead of time so seldom that you will stand out as a superstar!

Will they count in the project's page numbers?

Even if they would - main document can have blanks. Or it can be done with Book - or Sections - so rather not a big deal?

Didn't say it was. I was just going to show/suggest adjusting the page numbers with sectioning. Chill out.

Better to do a separate file. You will need to discuss die-cutting and specialty bindery handling.
