Question

How to stop InDesign 2026 from blocking my changes to font colors? It keeps reverting to white - no matter what font or style.. I spint over 30 min. with tech support, did what they said, but it did not solve the problem.

    Hi Noel,

Open both your Paragraph Styles panel and your Character Styles panel.

Put your Type tool into the troubled text.

You will likely find that a Character style is on full-time, over-riding the color change you want to make in the Paragraph Style.

When the Type tool is not selected into text, the Character Styles panel should default to None.

When you are fully deselected in the black Selection tool, the Character Styles panel should default to None.

    Did you try:

    • Changing the colour without any documents open to create a new default?
    • Checking the Basic Paragraph Paragraph setting? (Without any documents open to create a new default?)
    • Checking if any Change Style is selected as default with the colour?

Tech support should have guided you through all these steps if they were any good…
