How was this object created in InDesign?

It appears to be some sort of gradient or pattern fill with an opacity mask or two on top. I thought it was a placed image initially but nothing shows in the Links palette. Not being familiar with InDesign I'm curious as to how it was made. Thanks for the help.

That could easily be created natively in InDesign with gradient fills in shapes created with the Pen tool or with the Rectangle tool and then modified. It could also be something that was drawn similarly in Illustrator and then pasted into InDesign. It wouldn't show up on the Links panel if it was pasted in.
