Correct answer Laubender

Hi chi wail72431016,

that's a known bug with a certain version of InDesign.

The cause is the character formatting underline in conjunction with using a Variable Font.

The bug is fixed with InDesign 2021.

Details:

Underline with variable font
When the underline of a variable font is activated, the underline takes the whole height of the page. (Indesign 15.1.2)

What can you do if you cannot switch to InDesign 2021 for whatever reason:
[1] Use a different font, not the Variable Font type, where you need the underline.

[2] Do not use underline to indicate a hyperlink. Did not test this, but maybe strikethrough with an offset will work.
