hyperlinking the index

I designed a book and the author sent me a list of words to make an index of them. There is a very good script (I don't remember who made it) that builds this index automatically, but does not create hyperlinks to the indexed pages. Wouldn't there be another magical script like this or a very sharp grep to create these hyperlinks and solve my problem?
