Hyperlinks on a master page?

I am building six books to be output in both fixed-layout ePUB and interactive PDF formats.

Each page in each book will have a hamburger link in the same location. I figured I could place the linked button on a master page rather than paste the hamburger and relink it 500 times, which is about the total number of pages.

InDesign allowed me to create the hyperlinked button on the master page and it appears as a hyperlink on PDF document pages. However, when clicked, it links to a 100-percent version of the same page that was clicked on, regardless of zoom settings. On an ePUB page, viewed in Readium, the link does not work at all.

Is it possible to put hyperlinks on a master page? If so, what am I doing wrong? I have found discussions which say hyperlinked text does not work from a master page, but nothing about an image.

Thanks

ePUB also seems to be working.

Been working on this all day. No idea what I did differently.

    Apologies.

Tried again in a PDF, and it worked. Oops. Will save to ePUB and try that.
