Hyphenation: InDesign sbaglia gli a capo in italiano

In italiano non si va ma a capo con una vocale, tranne nel caso dei dittonghi (https://accademiadellacrusca.it/it/consulenza/divisione-in-sillabe/302#:~:text=aia%2C%20aio%2C%20aiu)%2C,%2C%20pa%2Dio%2Dlo.).

Come si può correggere questo errore fastidiosissimo che ammorba ormai tutti i libri in italiano?

So che posso correggere le singole parole il cui a capo è sbagliato, ma vorrei che il problema venisse risolto automaticamente dal programma.

Con lo strumento Testo posizionato all'interno del paragrafo in cui l'interruzione del testo avviene in modo errato, osserva il pannello Stili paragrafo per individuare lo stile che controlla quel testo; tale stile sarà evidenziato in blu. Facendo clic con il tasto destro del mouse sullo stile di paragrafo evidenziato, puoi accedere alla finestra di dialogo Opzioni stile paragrafo. Nella sezione Formati carattere avanzati troverai l'impostazione relativa alla lingua; assicurati che sia impostata su Italiano.

With your Type tool inserted into the paragraph that has the text that is breaking incorrectly, look at the Paragraph Styles panel to see which style is controlling that text. That style will be hinted in blue. By right-clicking the highlighted paragraph style, you can choose to enter into the Paragraph Style Options dialog box. Under Advanced Character Formats you will see the Language applied. Make sure that it is set to Italian.

Everything is correct; the style is Italian.
I know I'm repeating myself, but the problem really is the style—the diphthongs are always wrong.

I tested the reported Italian hyphenation behavior on InDesign 21.5.1, including the example you shared, but I was unable to reproduce the issue on my end.

Could you please update to the latest available version of InDesign (21.6) and test the same workflow again?

If the issue continues to occur after updating, could you please share a short screen recording showing the workflow, your language/hyphenation settings, and the incorrect result? This will help me compare your setup with my reproduction steps and confirm whether I may be missing something during testing.

segnalo anche io lo stesso problema, la lingua selezionata è l’italiano ma i dittonghi, cioè due vocali vicine (tipo ea, ao, ia) non vanno a capo nel modo corretto, cosa potete fare?

esempio: la parola “permeabili” va a capo così “perme-abili” incece il modo corretto in lingua italiana è “permea-bili”

My problem isn't in Illustrator but in InDesign 2026, but the issue has been going on for years, even with previous versions. The problem lies in the Italian language localization.
